First of all, it is located on a literal crossroads of three European power countries: The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany giving it a strategic position culturally, opening up three entirely different paths for guests when it comes to culinary delights, fun, and cultural hotspots.
Secondly, the park is situated right next to the Maasplassen, a natural area full of water, boating, and watersports opportunities, a serene landscape that lures you in with its vast beauty.
If this is not enough, Parc Maasresidence Thorn is just a bicycle ride or a walk away from the white-colored town of Thorn, which is a treasure box of beauty, history, and cultural sights.
These are all just on the surface level, and before the upcoming grand opening of the park (on the 29th of April, 2022) we would like to offer a sneak peek of what there is to see, do and experience at Parc Maasresidence Thorn during springtime!
To be fair, there are so many options, we were having a hard time gathering just a few, so do read this with the knowledge that there is much, much, MUCH more to see, taste and do.
Explore the marina and the MRT Beach
Let’s stay in the park for a little bit, and virtually explore the marina and the beach. It is an area with a lot to offer during springtime, all through the summer months, and even during autumn.
If it is warm enough, or depending on your own definition of “warm”, you can obviously have some classical beach fun and take a dip in the water. Take this onto a whole new level by renting pedal boats, canoes, or SUP boards at the marina and explore the lake, turning your time at the park into a water sports adventure.
Relaxing is also an important aspect of this park and this mentality has been transposed to the private beach as well, where between the sunbathing lawn and the picnic tables guests can enjoy refreshing drinks and delicious snacks.
A holiday home for water enthusiasts
The magic of Parc Maasresidence Thorn is so multilayered, and one of the wonders is the fact that you don’t have to let go of the water once you decide to go back to your holiday home at the end of the day. Obviously, the whole park is built right on the edge of the Maasplassen area, but we are talking about even more than that!
There are many types of holiday homes available, focused on outdoor living, families with children and proximity, and easy access to water.
So what is so special about the homes closest to the water?
The Premium Water homes have a spacious, bright living room with a sitting and dining area, a luxurious open kitchen, and gorgeous bedrooms with comfortable box spring beds. Outside you will find a terrace area with garden furniture, overlooking the water, which means that every single Premium Water home has a backyard bordering the water.
Wake up to this view, go to bed with it - at Parc Maasresidence Thorn, you never have to let it go.
Try out bowling- right in the park!
Leaving the beach and marina behind for a bit, there is an excellent activity in the park, perfect for the entire family. Bowling is classic, fun, and a great way to slip some healthy competition amongst friend groups or families.
As you may have guessed by now, Parc Maasresidence Thorn has its very own bowling alley, right in the park, so a little bit of fun is never far away!
With fully automated tracks and awesome lighting techniques, this game for sure transports anyone back to a simpler time, where the most important aspect is to simply win!
After conquering the bowling pins, a cozy sitting area awaits with an overview of the entire bowling alley, so enjoying a drink or a delicious snack here is an absolute must. Coincidentally, the alley is located in one of the central buildings of the park, right above the restaurant so having a full meal after the fun is totally possible, all while hardly changing the scenery!
Golfing in the Maasplassen area
Moving a little bit further away from the park, you will find an entire world of opportunities, such as no fewer than 3 golf courses in the immediate vicinity of the park.
Novice and experienced golfers can choose between gorgeous, landscaped 9 and 18 hole golf courses, which are perfectly blended into the surrounding nature and emanate harmony.
You will be greeted by nature and tranquility, good slopes, large sand and grass areas, all completely blended into the surroundings.
The golfer’s options are:
- Land van Thorn Golf Club Located just above the town of Hunsel, which is a 10-minute drive from the park
- Crossmoor This golf course is located in Weert and is approximately 20 minutes away from the park and offers options for experienced and novice players as well
- Herkenbosche Golf Club A half hour drive from Parc Maasresidence Thorn, golfers are greeted by a unique terraced area, forests, fens and streams while the clubhouse offers a cozy atmosphere for golfers and guests alike
Biking through nature
The park has not only been created with water enthusiasts in mind, but also with special attention to bikers. This means that anyone can practically hop on a bike and take a ride in the area directly from their holiday home, without first getting to some bicycle starting point.
Central Limburg is actually filled with bicycle and scooter routes which give you the feeling of absolute freedom. You can ride through the area, explore nature and enjoy tasty Limburgian regional dishes.
Also, you don’t have to carry your bicycle all the way to the park, this is especially hard for larger families when fitting everyone’s bike on and inside the car is a chore in itself. The park offers the possibility of renting different kinds of bikes, scooters and tven the environmentally friendly E-choppers. With this, you are able to discover the surroundings through a leisurely tour, trying out a silent way of seeing where the roads lead you.
Truth be told, there are many more activities to try out and discover in and around Parc Maasresidence Thorn, so see for yourself and starting with the 29th of April 2022, make this park your homebase for your adventures!
